When is it?
Tuesday 7th of September 2010, 6:00pm.
Where is it?
Oscar's Lounge Bar, 84 Union St, Pyrmont NSW 2009.
What is it?
On 7 September greenUps is once again celebrating the humble bicycle.
We have a new bike to give away (courtesy of the City of Sydney), valet parking (thanks to Bike Sydney), tune ups (by Bicycology), and films (from the Bicycle Film Festival).
We’re getting in ahead of a number of cycling events coming up round that time – including National Ride to Work Day on 13 October.
Why are we banging on about bikes? In one hit they help address climate change, peak oil, air pollution, noise pollution, traffic congestion, health and obesity issues, not to mention making the city a better place to live. Plus the new bikes coming out look damn cool.
Note that you don’t have to be a cyclist to come and enjoy this event. It’s still about drinks and networking as usual. (But if you’ve been thinking about riding to work, September 7 could be the day!)
The venue is Oscar’s Lounge Bar, 84 Union Street, Pyrmont (from the city it’s a short pedal across Pyrmont Bridge). It’s right on the recently opened Union Street bike lane – which is part of the new network of Sydney cycleways. On the food front – Oscars has reasonably priced dinners.
RSVP: Via Facebook or the MeetUp site.
Look forward to seeing you there!
The GreenUps Crew,
Jess, Liane, Kate, Dave, Phil, Ben and Alastair.
PS. Quick note about responsible drinking and cycling: make sure you stay under the limit guys. We’d like you all to have a great night and get home safely. (Don’t forget your light and helmet too!)

So sorry to be missing this event. Ride on! xx
Hi all, as briefly mentioned the 2nd International Day of Climate Action is coming up on Sunday 10 October. This is co-hosted by http://www.350.org and http://www.1010global.org – it’s the biggest day of the year on the climate calendar, globally.
Digital Eskimo are hosting a group cycle on the day, details TBC but will incorporate the Bourke St Cycleway and end in Centennial Park.
We are joining forces with another event – the VegPledge/ VegOut whose picnic we’ll be joining at the end of the ride.
So there’s 3 ways to be involved – by taking a 2 week food related pledge/ by taking part in the cycle/ by enjoying the low carbon picnic – you can do any or all!
Details of the pledge and picnic can be found here: http://www.350.org/vegpledge-vegout
Registering interest for the whole event can be done here: http://cyclepicnic101010.eventbrite.com/
